Final photo-blog postings from Saturday's Defend the Whitehouse rally: It took me a few hours extra to get these last pics posted - they are not from today (Sunday) they are still from Saturday's counter protest. I have many more pics that I'll upload to my flickr account and link from here when I get back to Chicago. The hotel wireless just isn't able to handle so many 3500 x 2400 pics. The pictures I handpicked for the blog here are meant to tell the story in general - but there are a lot of people who will be interested in the full set just because they know people in the pics, etc. So check back here next weekend for the full, hi-res set at flickr. -Ed

United for Peace and Justice, which was a main contingent and organizer of the anti-war march, was/is also opposed to our war in Afghanistan - and the marchers main claim that day, echoed without question by the MSM, is that they are now "mainstream." Really?

I wish the MSM spent enough time with us to take a picture of these heroes.

How could the anti-military protesters yell at these guys? They did.

What a crazy day - a woman, who is advocating pulling the troops out "now," and leaving the Iraqis completely vulnerable to the terrorists, screams at a soldier to "go back there," once he produces his military ID to show the anti-war protesters, he has already "signed up."

Over one hundred people showed up outside Walter Reed in response to the on-going anti-war protests that have been held there. I spoke to people who had traveled there from Minnesota, Georgia, New Jersey, Wisconsin and of course, Chicago.

Former Army M.P. Susan, a D.C. area local, came by to show support. She said she'd show up for the rally tomorrow at the Navy Memorial as well

UPDATE: Susan went to city hall and snagged the permit out from under Code Pink on the day it came up for renewal. The next day when Code Pink showed up at their corner outside the hospital to setup, they found out they lost their spot! So awesome, that is the best Protest Warrior work I've seen yet!

Last night in front of the White House I met a young medic, Kate, who returned from Iraq three months ago and is now working as a nurse at Walter Reed medical center. She told me that anti-war protestors have egged her car and screamed "murderer" as she pulled out of the parking lot of Reed.

Not Ready for Prime Time? Palestinians looks to be building their new state on the foundation of looting. [hat tip to Dad] MSNBC reports:

Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses on Tuesday, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

American Jewish donors had bought more than 3,000 greenhouses from Israeli settlers in Gaza for $14 million last month and transferred them to the Palestinian Authority. Former World Bank President James Wolfensohn, who brokered the deal, put up $500,000 of his own cash.
In their first test taking over the recently abandonded Israeli settlements in Gaza, the Palestinian looters have destroyed much of the primary core of the future business/jobs infrastructure.

The greenhouses are a centerpiece of Palestinian plans for rebuilding Gaza after 38 years of Israeli occupation. The Palestinian Authority hopes the high-tech greenhouses left by the Israelis will provide jobs and export income for Gaza’s shattered economy.

During a tour of Neve Dekalim, Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia implored Palestinians to leave the structures intact. “These greenhouses are for the Palestinian people,” he said. “We don’t want anyone to touch or harm anything that can be useful for our people.”
